X is currently an incomplete 19-volume long manga series and 24-episode, 1 OAV, and 1 movie long anime series by CLAMP. This epic (I think it's fair to call it one since it's one of CLAMP's longer works) tells the story of an apocalypse centered in Tokyo, Japan at the end of the 20th century. Two forces, the Ten no Ryu [Dragons of Heaven] (also called the Seven Seals) and Chi no Ryu [Dragons of Earth] (also called the Seven Angels) will meet in a battle to determine the end of the world.
The start of the event is triggered by the return to Tokyo by the main character Shirou Kamui, said to be the one who inherits the will of the gods. He will choose to lead one of the two forces and the battle will start. If he shall choose to be a Dragon of Heaven, the world will remain as it is; and if he shall choose to be a Dragon of Earth, the world will be destroyed and be reborn. The Dragons of Heaven wish to protect the world from destruction and see it live. On the contrary, the Dragons of Earth wish to destroy the world because they believe it is rotting (pollution, corruption, etc). Both sides believe they are "saving" the world. Whichever side Kamui chooses is said to be the side to win in the end.
However, what the prophecies didn't say was that Kamui had a "twin star", who is the one to take the side that he doesn't choose. For example, if Kamui should wish to protect the world, his twin star will choose to lead the Dragon of Earth. This causes the outcome of the battle to be unpredictable. The struggles of both sides still continue in the manga as it is still incomplete.
Tsubasa RESERVoiR CHRoNiCLE
Tsubasa RESERVoiR CHRoNiCLE is a new style of manga by CLAMP. It features characters from their other works, such as Card Captor Sakura, Clover, X, etc. The plot, of course, is new and original but the characters are reborn in a new world in TRC.
The story mainly revolves around 4 traveling companions, two of which you might already know very well: Sakura and Shaoran from Card Captor Sakura. Sakura is the princess of Clow Country and Shaoran is a archeologist in the same country and a childhood friend of Sakura. A strange event happens and Sakura loses all of her memories and Shaoran is sent to the "Witch of Dimensions", Yuuko, to find a way to retrieve the feathers that contain Sakura's memories and also her life source (without it, she dies). There, she meets Kurogane and Fye who also appear in front of Yuuko. She gives them Mokona and the power to travel through dimensions and worlds, where Shaoran can find Sakura's feathers.
As they travel through the many worlds, they meet people they've never met before and also people they knew in their own countries. However, even though the outer appearance and personalities might be the same, these people don't share the same memories. Also in their travels, they begin to unravel the opposing force, a man who wants Sakura's feathers for himself because they contain a power no one else possesses. As the series is still continuing, the race heats up and more intricacies are revealed.
